General Practitioner Women's Health

Assisting women to positively manage change in their lives is one of the key aspects of Dr Jo Adendorff's work.

Jo says she would like to see more women empowered with screening and lifestyle advice that helps them enhance their health, and reduce their risk of developing diseases such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and cancer.

Jo graduated with the University Medal from a Bachelor of Medicine (Hons) degree from the University of Newcastle in 2005. After completing her basic hospital training in Newcastle, she spent five years working in emergency departments and rural communities throughout the Northern Territory and the Kimberley region in Western Australia.

Moving to Lennox Head with her family in 2010, she has continued to focus on women’s health. Jo consults on all women’s health issues, including contraception and hormone replacement therapy. She is passionate about breast and cervical cancer screening, and pre-Covid, regularly volunteered with organisations working throughout the Pacific to reduce cervical cancer rates.

When she is not working, she enjoys surfing, mountain biking and fishing with her family.
