Research and Analytics

Melissa Bautista-Moss emigrated from the San Francisco Bay Area to Byron Bay in 2002. She became interested in pursuing a career in science after undertaking bird surveys for the US Geological Survey in the Baja Peninsula of Mexico. This led her to studying Applied and Environmental Sciences at the Southern Cross University and later being appointed Researcher and Laboratory Manager of the stable isotope facility at the Centre for Coastal Biogeochemistry at SCU.

After starting a family, Melissa focused on becoming involved in local community organisations. She became president of the Byron Bay Community Preschool Parent Committee, volunteered at Byron Bay Primary School, Science Officer for Rainforest Rescue and is even a cub scout leader for 1st Byron Bay Scouts.

Melissa joined First Light Healthcare in 2016, and with her extensive experience in data collection and analysis, she quickly became a highly valued team member.

When she's not crunching the numbers and reconciling data, Melissa enjoys being outdoors in the garden, family time and playing tennis.
